Consciousness-based Education

Posted on Jul 24th, 2008 by Amy : OAmyCat Evolving Amy
Today, I read an article about a documentary coming out in summer 2008, called "School of Thought," about the Maharishi School of the Age of Enlightenment in Fairfield, Iowa.

School of Thought %u2022 David Lynch, Donovan and Moby

I want to urge every person who understands the impact this can have on reducing school violence and teenage suicide to do all that you can to get it into the school you are involved in - parents, grandparents, teachers, administrators, politicians.

This program has been available for 50 years, with impressive results and scientific support. Yet, I called the Colorado Department of Education today, and spoke with a Charter School Consultant who didn't know what I was talking about. She asked me if I knew I was calling the Department of Education for K-12 public schools.

I guess she thought consciousness-based education is only for college. I find it sad that nine years after the Columbine shootings here in Colorado, the school system isn't even aware of this effective solution.

Here is a link to the Consciousness-based Education Association for more information, research and tools to use in approaching your local school.

It fills me with joy to see the light pouring into the world ...

nestled within you, I see
something that is here, in me
something shared by all who breathe
something that is truth and ease
from within flows your light
meeting mine as one - unite
from one to all as working parts
creating living, spontaneous art
playing through us, beaming out
the spririt essence dances, shouts
we all make up a great, good whole
one life eternal
flawless soul

Source Rap (not to be confused with saran wrap)

One golden thread of Truth
that laces through
is connecting to Source -
all religions do.

Hindus resonate
with "Om"
the sound of the universe
leads them home.

Buddhists sit
with both knees bent
their aim is attaining
enlightenment.

Reading Torah,
in rocking motion
is how some Jews
express devotion.

Christians pray
to God as a friend,
telling of problems
that He can mend.

Facing Mecca
Muslims pray,
remembering Allah
five times a day.

Speaking in tongues,
drumming, chanting,
opening chakras,
singing, dancing.

Prayer, meditation
Contemplation
God recollection
Introspection
Self-realization
Soul inspiration
Quiet reflection
Oneness connection.
